Synopsis

This is the new play by Peter Quilter, writer of the wildly successful shows “Glorious!” and “End of the Rainbow” which have been performed in 25 countries worldwide and translated into 15 languages. Length: 110 mins.

THE COOGAN ACT is a dark comedy about the world of fame and celebrity.  It is available as a world premiere on stage, although it has already been made into a television movie in Poland – the critically acclaimed, “Rodzinny Show”.

The play is based around a showbusiness family and their thirst for fame.  The father, Alan Coogan, is a failed television presenter.  His wife, a retired singer.  His son, a rising young film star.  And the latest addition is George - a documentary film maker, always present in the house to record their lives for television.  But George is not all he seems.  He is not there to increase their fame.  He is there for revenge...

It is a visually very interesting play, using live video mixed into the stage action and it also combines intense drama with hilarious comedy.  Sharp and contemporary, “The Coogan Act” should be a great hit with audiences.
